About the Workshop:
Dive headfirst with Alicia Gonzalez into the whimsical world of clowning. This workshop will focus on activating the ‘curiosity of the clown’ to help us stay present, playful and light in performance.
Key elements we will focus on include:
- Openness and Offer-Making: Encouraging openness to both give and recieve offers in a dynamic and engaging manner
- Complicité and Connection: Exploring “complicité” to foster deep connections and a shared understanding with fellow participants
- Embracing Discovery: Finding joy in discovery, approaching each situation with freshness, spontaneity, and an open mind
Running Order:
1:00pm: Arrive, warm up and share intentions for the session
1:30pm – 4:00pm: Clowning Workshop- A bit of Nonsense with Alicia
4:00pm- 4:30pm: Enjoy some snacks, an opportunity to digest (literally) and share ideas
About Alicia Gonzalez:
Trained at Lecoq in Paris, France, Alicia Gonzalez is a dedicated actor, director and coach specialising in clowning, movement and the creation of original theatre and film.
As a comedy writer and performer, Alicia has graced the stages of prestigious events such as the Sydney Festival, Melbourne Comedy Festival, and Adelaide Fringe festivals. Beyond the spotlight, she’s also affectionately known as ‘Dr. Ding Dong,’ spreading smiles as a medical clown doctor.
Alicia also owns The Clown Institute, where she shares her skills with others. With a clown’s heart and a storyteller’s soul, she’s facilitated clowning and movement classes at renowned art centres, businesses, and theatres across Sydney and regional NSW.
