Wallsend Frights: Spooky Holidays Program

For the 2025 spooky season, Curious Legends are bringing frighteningly fun festivities back to Wallsend! We partnered with WOW Wallsend and Newy With Kids to bring you Wallsend Frights: Spooky Holidays Program– 2 weeks of free and cost-subsidised family friendly activities we are running in the lead up to our main event on October 31st.

From September 26th to October 11th we are inviting communities across Newcastle and the Hunter to get creative with a range of activities and build excitement for this festive season. Participants in activities will receive entries into our Halloween Prize draw giveaway.

Bat Quest with Wallsend Local Businesses

The team at Curious Legends have partnered with local businesses to create a family friendly scavenger hunt for you this school holidays: BAT QUEST. Embark on a mission across Wallsend CBD to find our hidden bats, plotting your course as you complete activities, decipher riddles, and gather the hints and answers located at each Bat’s roost.

Note: The Quest BEGINS 27/09 and will need to be completed during business hours when participating retailers are open. CLICK HERE to download instructions.

Colouring in Competition with Drop In Espresso Bar and AMS Art Studio

A colouring in comp for everyone! There will be 3 age categories: 4-8 years, 9-12 years and 13+ years. Designs have been created by students at AMS Art Studio, and are a mixture of colour in the line and design-your-own templates.

Head straight to Drop in Espresso Bar during business hours and pick up a sheet, or CLICK HERE to download print out. Complete and return your sheet to Drop in Espresso, where visiting patrons will vote on their favourite entry. Entries into the comp will be displayed and voted on by patrons. The winner of each category will choose a prize out of our Prize pool.

Decoration Making Crafter-noon with Drop In Espresso Bar

Come along and turn trash into treasure with Drop In Espresso Bar and Curious Legends. Spend an afternoon crafting creepy-cute decorations from recycled goodies, bottle caps, milk cartons, cardboard and more. The decorations will be shared with local businesses and you can take some home too!

Skeleton Shirt Bleach Dyeing with AMS Art Studio

Head over to AMS Art Studio these holidays to create your own bleach dyed T-Shirts. Taking inspiration from Halloween imagery like skeletons, bats, pumpkins and ghouls, you will learn how to safely hand paint with bleach creating your own one of a kind designs.

There are two workshop sessions available: One for tweens/teens, and another for kids aged 7-10 years with a supervising adult. Bookings Essential.

DIY Minecraft Helmet Cut-out with AMS Art Studio

Drop into AMS Art Studio between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm Monday-Saturday and pick up your own cardboard Minecraft Helmet cut-out. Helmets will be given at a donation of $5
