Tillum (brash and brave) and Dinky (the unwilling adventurer) are well-meaning raindrops, prone to forgetfulness when it comes to the rules of the raincloud. Inspired by the plight of old Nana Frog, who is forced to leave her home of many years, they jump off their cumulus cloud and into a mission to save a dying pond. The Lord of the Sun bestows upon Tillum a shining, melodious sun flute, which the raindrop learns to play. This he uses to charm and console the distraught Water Spirit (his 'Water Mama'), agreeing to embark on a mission to restore her sacred water... Meanwhile Dinky, after being humiliated and relieved of her beloved biscuit tin by an outrageous creature named 'Lulu', stumbles upon the real cause of the pond's demise in the form of a confused and short-sighted caterpillar. After twists and turns, finally Tillum returns to the Water Mama, where the central water miracle of the play unfolds and he sees with his own eyes that 'every water drop is precious'. Their mission completed, the raindrops happily return home to their cumulus cloud. And there they decide to stay.... for the time being! |
