to our 'Upcoming Gigs and Projects Page'. This is where you can find
information about future projects, and what performances we have coming
up over the next few months. Keep checking back, we update this page
regularly. If you'd like to see us perform at a particular venue, let
us know, and we'll see what we can do!
*Melbourne Holiday Centres - Various DatesThis past June and July
was very busy for us! We launched our brand new show Haunted House,
and toured extensively to holiday centres all throughout Melbourne. It
was exhausting, fun, and inspiring to launch another show. In October Haunted House will
be back, touring to La Mama theatre in Carlton in a spooky season for
kids, see below for more info.
September holidays promise to be busier than ever, when we'll be touring Company Gongoma's show The Mermaid's Daughter, and our workshop Puppet Life. See below for more info, and for shows that will be open to the public! August - 2008The
Play Project
- August 10th through October 26th, 2008
We've received a grant from the City of Melbourne 2008 Arts Grants Program to run a series of performance workshops at Artplay with children 5 to 8 years old. The Play Project is the result. Every Sunday through October we're creating a performance with kids and adults from scratch! Participants change each weeek. Everyone is welcome to join in for one workshop, or lots of them. The Play Project workshops are for children aged 5 to 8 years old, and accompanying adults. The workshops are made up of child and adult pairs, with a maximum of 6 children and 6 adults per workshop. The cost for each workshop is $10 per child and adult pair. Together we'll write the story, make the costumes, create the characters, build the set, and perform! Numbers are strictly limited; pre-booking is essential. We are flexible, and would hate for anyone to miss out because of money. If you can't afford it, email us, and we'll book you in! As part of this project, we're creating a 'live link' on our website. This is something we hope you all can help us build, as a true reflection of the spirit of play in Melbourne. The Mermaid's Daughter - September
24th through 26th
This September we're proud to be working with Company Gongoma for the Melbourne Fringe Festival. We'll be presenting their show The Mermaid's Daughter for audiences young and old alike, as well as a workshop on Shadow Puppetry. Sia is a young girl with a secret... her mother is the Mamiwata, an African mermaid. Come join Sia on an adventure that leads from African markets to the bottom of the sea. Can you help Sia find her way home again? Performed by Jenny Ellis and Miriam Leiberman, this magical story features shadow puppets, storytelling, and live traditional music from Africa on a journey under the waves!
