Curious
Legends sprang into being in mid 2005 as a vibrant new theatre company.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, our work varies from performances with
children to workshops for adults with disabilities. While primarily
focused on creating unique and imaginative theatre for children, our
repertoire is vast. Below are the biographies of the duo who form the
core of this company, however we work with a wide range of people on a
needs-by basis. Please see each individual show or project for more
info. BiographiesMitchell
Reese (co-founder) is an actor and musician.
He spent five years as a
professional storyteller, presenting solo storytelling shows at private
functions, schools and festivals both in Australia and overseas. After spending a year studying at The Actors Center in Sydney,
Mitchell graduated with distinction from Deakin University (Melbourne)
in 2008 with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts in Drama. Several of his
lecturers have been invovled at various times in the evolution of Curious Legends, and regularly
advise on new projects. As well as performing in most of the current shows, Mitchell
runs the business side of our theatre company, and oversees creative
output. It's his vision that moves us forward into new and uncharted
territory. Alexandra
Day (co-founder), actor, dancer and writer, studied
Eurythmy in London for 3
years, an art of movement that inspires much of her performance work.
She has written or co-written most of Curious Legends' productions, and
performed in all of the early ones. These days Alexandra's interest is in community theatre, where
she combines her love of theatre and writing. Having worked for 7 years
with adults in the disability sector, Alexandra has a wealth of
experience to bring to this work. Whether running our standard
workshops, creating material for kids on the autism specturm, or
teaching adults with intellectual disabilties, Alexandra is an
inspiring teacher.
